At Tampa Bay Tai Chi

we provide you with an opportunity to enhance your physical and mental well-being through the transformative practice of Tai Chi & Qigong, an ancient Chinese martial art.

Sharon Abbott has been dedicated to supporting Veterans through the Whole Health Tai Chi Program at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa, FL since 2019. A Veteran herself, Sharon personally discovered the powerful benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong for managing pain and improving overall well-being. This experience sparked a deep passion and commitment to share these healing arts with others.

Her journey began with many hours of personal practice and mentorship, leading her to becoming a Tai Chi Practitioner. From there, she advanced through the ranks—earning credentials as a Certified Associate Instructor, then Certified Instructor Level I, and now Certified Instructor Level II. Over the past six years, Sharon has played a vital role in building and sustaining a successful Tai Chi program at the Tampa Veterans’ Hospital.

Due to recent changes within the VA, Sharon now leads Community Tai Chi & Qigong for Health classes on Zoom, continuing her mission to support Veterans, their families, and friends through inclusive and accessible instruction.

In addition to her work with the Veteran community, Sharon participates in community events that promote mindfulness, gentle movement, and holistic health for people of all ages. Her classes focus on cultivating both physical and internal balance, enhancing flexibility, and sharing the evidence-based science behind Tai Chi and Qigong. She fosters a welcoming, supportive space where participants—whether beginners or experienced practitioners—can experience the transformative benefits of these ancient practices.
